United States – Momoko Tanigawa, a talented young midfielder for the Japanese Women's National Team (Nadeshiko), stole the show at the 2024 SheBelieves Cup. Her long-range goal from 25 meters against Colombia gave her team victory.
However, behind his beautiful goal, Tanigawa expressed his regret. He felt he had not contributed enough to the team and wanted to become a more important player.
"I want to develop so I can contribute to the team and become the player the team needs," said Tanigawa.
Nadeshiko's new coach, Nils Nielsen, has full confidence in Tanigawa. Support from teammates also gave him the confidence to shoot long distance shots.
Even so, Tanigawa only played 65 minutes of three matches in the SheBelieves Cup. He is determined to improve his defensive abilities and become a more versatile player.
"I need to become a player with more perfect defensive skills. I need to become a player that people want to play in any situation," he added.
Tanigawa, who plays for Bayern Munich Women, proved that she is one of the most promising young players in Japan. He is determined to continue to develop and bring Nadeshiko to success in the future.
